Volunteer Opportunity: Fleet Feet Elvis is Alive 5k Volunteer Event
Date: Thursday, August 5, 2010
Time: 4:00pm or 5:15pm shifts (run begins at 6:45 pm)
Where: Grant Park, on the lakefront bike path between Randolph and Monroe. The race site can be found just west of the Columbia Yacht Club.
Cost: FREE
The Fleet Feet Elvis is Alive 5K benefits Girls on the Run-Chicago! Girls on the Run is the benefiting charity of the Elvis is Alive 5K run, and we will be volunteering to help manage beer ticket sales and beer distribution for the post-5K party in the park. We will need a limited number of volunteers to be at Grant Park by 4pm, with the remainder of volunteers arriving by 5:15pm.
Girls on the Run is an organization aimed at educating and preparing girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. The program is for girls ages eight to thirteen years old, and combines training for a 3.1 mile running event (which will take place on 11/13/10) with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The Girls on the Run objective is to reduce the potential display of at-risk activities among its participants.
