Department Overview
The Real Estate Investment (REIG) manages about $12 billion of assets for Allstate’s various lines of insurance and financial products and pension fund. REIG oversees investments in Commercial Mortgages, Real Estate Equity, and Residential Mortgages and Asset Backed Securities.
The position will be responsible for:
Loan Administration, Servicing and Surveillance of the Commercial Mortgage Loan Portfolio, including:
- Acting as the primary contact with our external Servicers/Correspondents, in-house Legal staff, Accounting and Commercial Mortgage Portfolio Managers; handling all correspondence and inquiries related to payments, taxes, late fees, insurance and borrower requests
- Reviewing and approving pre-closing insurance; engaging Servicers on new loans and refinances; updating mortgage loan servicing system/database and preparing electronic files for new loans and refinances
- Reviewing and approving Servicer recommendations on various borrower requests per loan documents, including Assignments and Assumptions, Lease Approvals, Partial Releases, Special Escrow Disbursements, Collateral Substitutions, Note Modifications and Extensions, Insurance Loss Drafts, Easements, etc.
- Monitoring quarterly collection of rent rolls, operating statements and completing analysis for quarterly loan valuations based on set of pre-determined assumptions
- Collecting and reviewing quarterly property inspections and provide notification to Commercial Mortgage Portfolio Managers regarding deferred maintenance, safety and vacancy issues
- Monitoring Servicer compliance for annual certifications, Fidelity bond and E&O coverage, company financials, USAP requirements, escrow balances and monthly reporting requirements related to real estate taxes, insurance and delinquency reports.
- Act as back-up for other loan servicing team members including prepayment premium calculations for payoffs, as needed
- Complete special assignments as determined by managers
- Minimal travel to special events or industry related conferences
Required Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively and professionally with a variety of internal staff, external clients and customers
- Ability to perform assigned tasks independently, as well as within a team setting; good at multi-tasking
- Excellent organizational skills which allow this individual to consistently meet deadlines through prioritization of workload
- Process oriented with strong analytical skills with the ability to solve problems and meet challenges
- Good understanding of commercial mortgage loan servicing and loan documentation
- Strong technology skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook; experience with a commercial mortgage loan servicing system/database, preferably LMS (vended by SS&C)
Experience required:
- 1-5 years in Commercial Real Estate, preferably in Loan Servicing
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a major in Real Estate, Business, Finance or Law

- Be willing to adhere to the following in order to ensure compliance with Allstate Investments’ requirements and policies:
- Provide the Investments Compliance team with a list of investment accounts over which you have significant influence
- Provide consent, through a signed statement, allowing Investments Compliance to receive duplicate confirmations of transactions in such accounts
- Pre-clear through the Pre-Trade Clearing Process any personal security trades as will be further described upon employment. The Pre-Trade Clearing Process involves a check against a restricted security/issuer list, maintained by Investments Compliance, based on Allstate Investments’ and Allstate’s activities and dealings in the financial markets
- Answer certain compliance questions regarding any affiliations with investment advisers, violations of state or federal securities laws, or actions taken against you by securities regulators
- Annually (and as otherwise required) confirm compliance with the Allstate Code of Ethics and the Allstate Investments Code of Conduct
- Provide Investments Compliance with a complete report of current securities holdings in which the employee has, or acquires, any direct or indirect beneficial ownership. An employee is presumed to be a beneficial owner of securities that are held by his or her immediate “family members” sharing the individual’s household. Household family members include married or common-law spouses, domestic partners, partners defined by civil union and resident dependent children
